Paula H. Deen and her sons operate The Lady & Sons Restaurant, located in Savannah's historic district.
Paula Deen was born in Albany, Georgia on January 19, 1947. After moving to Savannah, she opened the Bag Lady catering company with her two sons. In 1996, she opened her own restaurant called The Lady and Sons. In 1999, USA Today named The Lady and Sons the International Meal of the Year. She eventually opened a second restaurant called Uncle Bubba's Oyster House with her brother. She is the author of numerous cookbooks including Paula Deen's Kitchen Wisdom and Recipe Journal; Christmas with Paula Deen; Paula Deen and Friends; The Lady and Sons Just Desserts; The Lady and Sons Too!; and The Lady and Sons Savannah Country Cookbook. Her memoir, Paula Deen: It Ain't All About the Cookin', was published in 2007. She has three shows on the Food Network: Paula's Home Cooking, Paula's Party, and Paula's Best Dishes. She won two daytime Emmy Awards for Paula's Home Cooking. In 2005, she appeared in the movie Elizabethtown and launched a lifestyle magazine called Cooking with Paula Deen.
